At S&G Response, our commitment to our employees extends well beyond the work they do every day, so much so that we truly believe that fostering a supportive and enriching work environment is crucial not only for personal well-being, but also for overall professional success.
From charitable efforts to comprehensive mental health support, we’re committed to doing everything we can to support our S&G employees behind the scenes.
Here’s a closer look at how we do just that.
We invest in future talent with our Future Pathways Programme
We’re thrilled to announce the latest milestone in our employee development journey with the launch of our Future Pathways Programme – a brand new in-house training initiative designed to nurture and elevate our team’s skills in two crucial areas: technical expertise and leadership development.
Emma Shone, our HR Manager, is spearheading this transformative programme, aimed at honing the skills of our workforce and preparing them for future leadership roles, and leads by setting an example that the Future Pathways Programme is more than just training; it’s an investment in our people and a testament to our commitment to their career growth.
Already in its early days, we’re delighted to congratulate the 19 colleagues who have successfully joined this programme already, as their dedication to personal and professional development represents a key factor in our shared success.
We’ve built a culture of giving back
At S&G Response, giving back to the community is a core value of ours.
We actively engage in raising awareness and funds for a variety of charities that our employees are passionate about, and through innovative fundraising efforts and collaborative team activities, we not only support important causes but also strengthen our team bond too.
In fact, we’re so proud to facilitate employee involvement in charity work that our sponsorship match scheme ensures that the funds raised by staff are matched by the company, doubling the impact of their efforts.
And if that wasn’t enough, we also offer paid leave for employees who wish to volunteer, making it easier for them to contribute to causes they care about too.
We support positive mental health and wellbeing
Mental health is a priority at S&G Response, as we completely understand that a supportive work environment is vital for overall wellbeing.
Because of this, we worked on expanding our Mental Health First Aider team to introduce new members, all of which are available to provide confidential support and a listening ear to colleagues facing mental health challenges, whether in person, over the phone or via Teams.
Ultimately, we believe that creating an open dialogue about mental health is essential, and at S&G Response, we ensure that mental health is never a taboo subject, but one to be encouraged, and for all employees to reach out and talk about their concerns in a safe space.
We celebrate success and team spirit
Our commitment to our team is also reflected in our vibrant social and celebratory events, from the memorable Summer Party at Champneys Mottram Hall to the energetic Three Peaks Challenge!
We believe in creating opportunities for our employees to connect, unwind and celebrate their achievements, and support the incredible spirit and determination of our employees.
We offer comprehensive employee benefits
Beyond our charity work and training programmes, we offer a range of benefits designed to support and reward our employees. Our pension scheme includes a 3% contribution from S&G, and we offer 25 days of annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, with an additional day for each year of service up to a maximum of 5 extra days.
Our Employee Assistance Programme provides 24/7 support for issues ranging from stress and bereavement to legal and financial advice. We also offer wellbeing support through our partners, including access to mental health resources and a life insurance policy.
Social events, such as our regular gatherings and fun activities, provide a much-needed break and a chance to strengthen relationships outside of the workplace.
We’re committed to sustainability
In line with our values, we’re also committed to sustainability in everything from reducing plastic waste to supporting local farmers and aiming for a paper-free environment by 2024.
We believe it’s our job to make any positive difference we can, and so our entire workforce is dedicated to preserving our community and the environment.
